Fall 2013
We have almost completed the construction of Canto Luz and now have
more time to move our attention into other initiatives.
We have recently began investigation work at Santa Teresita native
community ( Yini ethnic group) to identify areas in which Canto Luz and
the community can work together.
Canto Luz takes active part in the initiative to protect river Piedras as
one of the last mercury free rivers of the region from illegal gold mining by
forming aliances with neighbourhood communities and other organizations
in Madre de Dios.
As part of our knowledge preservation effort, we have started planting a
medicinal garden on Canto Luz ground and identification of other wildly
grown medicinal plants and trees on our land.
We are welcoming volunteers, and if you want to become a part of the creation process or to bring your own ideas to the table, please read our Get Involved page.
